Privacy policy

Brodlin PDF for Chrome

This policy covers the Brodlin PDF Chrome extension and its related Brodlin account and online-editor handoff features. The extension’s local PDF tools are free and do not require an account or subscription.

PDFs and local storage

The extension processes opened PDFs in your browser. Documents, annotations, recovery drafts, recent-document information, preferences and signatures you choose to remember can be stored locally in browser storage. Opening a local PDF does not by itself upload it to Brodlin.

Local records can remain between sessions. Other people with access to the same browser profile may be able to access them. Downloaded or printed copies are managed separately by your browser and device.

Optional account features

If you choose to register, sign in, verify your email or reset your password, the extension sends the information required for that action to brodlin.com over HTTPS. This may include your name, email, entered location, password and verification or recovery codes. These features use website session and security cookies.

Account details and related security records are processed on the website to provide and protect your account. An account is optional for the extension’s local PDF tools.

Online PDFs and the website editor

Opening a web PDF requests the file from its source website. That provider receives the network information needed to deliver it, such as your IP address. The extension uses the PDF address and filename to open and identify the document.

Only when you choose Edit online does the extension pass the selected PDF and filename into the Brodlin website editor. The handoff selects the editor’s local mode. Any later website action, including saving or sharing online, follows the options you choose there.

Optional technical diagnostics

Extension diagnostics are off by default. If you enable them, the extension sends limited technical events to Brodlin: product version, feature or error codes, time, duration, screen dimensions, packaged source location and random event or session identifiers. Diagnostic events exclude PDF contents, document filenames, remote PDF addresses and text you enter.

The receiving service can derive browser, operating system, device type, country where available and a daily coded network identifier from request metadata. Hosting infrastructure also receives connection information. Diagnostics are therefore not described as anonymous. Turning them off stops future diagnostic sending; it does not erase records already sent.

Why browser permissions are needed

Browser integration permissions support opening PDF links from the context menu, detecting eligible PDF navigation, directing PDFs into the viewer and remembering your settings. Website access supports fetching selected PDFs, optional Brodlin account actions and the online-editor handoff. Packaged scripting is used for that handoff.

You can change automatic-opening preferences and website exclusions in the extension. Access to local files also depends on Chrome’s separate file-access setting. These permissions are not used to build a browsing-history profile.

Use and sharing of information

Brodlin does not sell user data. User data is used only to operate and improve the product, and is not used to determine creditworthiness or for lending decisions.

Information needed to deliver a requested feature may be processed by Brodlin and service providers operating hosting, email delivery or technical infrastructure. A website from which you request a PDF processes its own request. Information may also be disclosed where required by applicable law.

Storage, choices and deletion

Local information remains until removed by you or cleared by the browser. Clearing extension storage or uninstalling the extension removes locally retained state; it does not remove downloaded files, printed copies or server-side account records. Remembered signatures and document recovery data should be treated as personal information.

Server-side account and technical records are retained for account operation, troubleshooting, security and applicable legal obligations. Contact Brodlin to request information about retention, access, correction or deletion. Disabling diagnostics or clearing local storage does not automatically delete records already held by the website.

Contact and policy updates

For privacy questions or requests concerning your information, email . Describe the request and relevant extension version. Do not send passwords, verification codes or private PDF documents with an initial enquiry. Information you send to support is used to handle your request.

Changes to this policy will be published on this page with an updated date. This policy describes the extension and the related website features above; it does not describe every other Brodlin service or the privacy practices of external PDF providers.
